Otiarae is a personal project taking shape in one Sicilian house. It brings private domestic life into conversation with creative work and cultural exchange, with enough room for both solitude and good company.
The invitation is simple: spend time with an idea, become curious about a place, and let the day unfold.
THE IDEA
A personal project,
rooted in place.
A longstanding love of Italy became the impulse to make a home here. Otiarae grows from the belief that a change of environment can change how we think, create, and connect.
Its character begins with Mussomeli and a traditional house, originally formed from two smaller homes. The restoration makes room for a studio and shared domestic life while preserving the intimacy of a private residence.
THE PLEASURE OF BEING HERE
Days with
room in them.
A morning might belong to writing or a creative experiment. An afternoon might lead through the town, into the countryside, or towards a shared meal. Reading, cooking, and conversation are part of the same experience.
There will be no prescribed rhythm. The intention is to offer the conditions for focused work and discovery, with the freedom to decide what deserves your attention.
FOR THE CURIOUS
Artists, writers, designers, thinkers, and thoughtful travelers.
No particular discipline or finished project is required. What matters is curiosity, generosity, and a willingness to take part in the life of a place.
Future stays may be independent or occasionally collaborative, always small in scale and personal in spirit.
AN INVITATION, IN TIME
A place in

Otiarae is not yet accepting public bookings. Private, invitation-only stays are envisioned for 2027, with a wider opening planned for 2028. Both remain subject to the progress of the restoration.

Otiarae began with a simple desire: to make room for a more intentional life, shaped by creativity, culture and connection.
In Mussomeli, a traditional house is being transformed into a creative residence — a place for artists, writers and curious people to work, gather and spend time with Sicily beyond the familiar routes.
The vision is intimate: quiet mornings, long walks, local ingredients and conversations that stretch into the evening. Space for solitude, with the possibility of companionship.
The house is being restored. The programme is still taking shape. Friends and invitation-only stays are planned for 2027, followed by a broader opening in 2028.
